The Black Tor on Walkhampton Common, West Dartmoor, is very easy to get to and commands fantastic views down the Meavy valley towards Sheeps Tor. The tor is perhaps best known for the logan stone on one of its outcrops. Despite its accessibility, it has never been overrun with people when I’ve visited. Perhaps this is because the even easier to get to Sharpitor is just up the road.

From the tor it is a short walk to the valley bottom where the Black Tor waterfall can be found.

Crossing the stream near the waterfall a short walk towards Hart Tor reveals an impressive but understated stone row.

To get to the tor, park up at one of the small car parks off the B3212 Princetown to Yelverton road and walk for 5-10 minutes over easy but occasionally boggy ground.
