Buckland Beacon

The view into the Dart Valley from Buckland Beacon

Buckland Beacon, on the southeast edge of the moor, is probably most famous for the ten commandments stones. It is an easy, if occasionally muddy, walk from the car park at Cold East Cross and offers great views. The commandments stones themselves have recently been restored so that the inscriptions are legible again. It probably wont be too long until they are worn down again by their exposure to the elements.

This photo avoids the ten commandments stones and shoots the view from the top of the tor over the Dart valley which, on this morning, was shrouded in mist.

It is a short walk from the nearby Welstor Rock
