Quintins Man

The cairn on Quintins Man, Dartmoor

Quintins Man is a rather ordinary hill on the moor to the west of Fernworthy forest. There is no tor here as such and, unlike other Dartmoor “men”, there is no evidence of a standing stone either. There is a cairn of loose rocks and a military hut (the hill lies just outside the Okehampton range).

While not spectacular in itself the views all around are wide ranging. On the full size version of this image you can pick out the TV mast near Princetown. It’s not a million miles from anywhere, but the feeling of remoteness is definitely there.

I doubt if I will make a special effort to return for a proper landscape photo in low light.
