Vixen Tor in western Dartmoor is famous for two things. It is the tallest tor on the moor (as opposed to highest) but it is probably most famous for the other thing. It is no longer publicly accessible.
I am not going to go into the whys aqnd wherefores of this but will refer the reader to the Legendary Dartmoor site for more info.
That it is not accessible is a shame and I have not yet “bagged” this tor. However I have taken a photo of it. This was taken from Heckwood Tor just after sunrise in January.
I approached this viewpoint from Windy Post cross and spent some time admiring the view and exploring Whitchurch Common.
